突然ですが、POSTからビックニュースがあります！
が、その前に少しだけわたしの話をさせてください。ちょっと長くなりますがご容赦。
はじめまして。POSTでプレスを担当している井手です。働き始めてもうすぐ2年。わたしがPOSTで働きたいと思ったのは、ある体験がきっかけでした。
ロンドン発の雑誌『crosscurrent』を求めて店を訪れた日のこと。買う前にパラパラ見ていると、スタッフの人が「その雑誌が好きなら、この本もおすすめです」と1冊の写真集を持ってきてくれました。それは、『crosscurrent』でも撮り下ろしているオランダのフォトグラファー Ari Marcopolosの『zines』でした。
たった1冊の本から相手の好みを想像して、別の1冊を提案すること。やさしさがそっと添えられた、さりげない接客は今でも心に残っています。
その時のスタッフ 東明さんとは今一緒に働いていて、素敵なご縁に感謝です。（しかも、年齢も下の名前も同じという偶然！）
今この時代に、アートブックを”対面で”届けるよさはなんだろう。
それは、本そのものの価値だけではなく、本を通して誰かと価値観を共有できることだとわたしは思います。
その想いにつながる忘れられない出会いもありました。
1年ほど前、来店された60代女性と、ふとした会話から文通が始まりました。彼女はかつて映画の仕事をしていた方で、映画の話だけでなく互いの近況を伝え合うなど、今でも文通は続いています。彼女が手にとった1冊の本から生まれた会話、そして手紙のやりとりが、わたしの世界を大きく広げてくれました。
「人と人」。POSTで働き始めて強く実感するようになったことです。
アートブックをきっかけに相手を知る。人とのリアルな繋がりが希薄になりつつある時代だからこそ、心にぬくもりをもたらしてくれるそんな体験を大切にしたいです。
前置きがかなり長くなってしまいました。すみません、お待たせしました。
ビックニュースはなんと......
来年の秋、POSTは1冊の本を出版します！ これまでの出版社特集をまとめた本です。
5年前、10年前のPOSTの本棚をのぞけると思うとワクワクしませんか？その積み重ねてきた時間が、この本にどんな表情を与えてくれるのか......。
そして今回の制作には、いつもPOSTを支えてくださっている方々にも協力をお願いしています。まさに、POSTをとり巻く人たちがいなければ生まれない1冊になりそうです。
さらにもうひとつ。この本は出版、流通、販売価格など、「本をつくり、届ける」ためのあらゆる要素に対して、今POSTが考えるベストな形をぎゅっとまとめた1冊になります。詳しくは次回以降の配信で。

We have some big news from POST!
But before that, please allow me a moment to share a little personal story. It’s a bit long—thank you for bearing with me.
Hello, I’m Ide, and I’m in charge of press at POST. It’s been almost two years since I started working here, and there’s a particular experience that made me want to join the team.
It happened on the day I visited the shop looking for the London-based magazine crosscurrent. As I was flipping through it before buying, a staff member approached me and said, “If you like that magazine, you might also enjoy this,” and handed me a photobook.
It was zines by the Dutch photographer Ari Marcopoulos, who also contributed original work to crosscurrent.
The act of imagining someone’s taste from just one book and gently suggesting another—that small, thoughtful gesture left a deep impression on me.
Today, I’m lucky enough to work alongside that same staff member, Mr. Tōmei. I’m grateful for such a wonderful connection. (And by coincidence, we share both the same first name and age!)
What does it mean to deliver art books in person in this day and age?
I believe it’s not only about the value of the books themselves, but about the ability to share perspectives and experiences through them.
There was another unforgettable encounter that deepened this feeling.
About a year ago, a woman in her sixties visited the shop. A casual conversation sparked an exchange of letters that continues to this day. She once worked in film, and we’ve written not only about movies but also about our everyday lives. A single book she picked up led to conversations and correspondence that have broadened my world in ways I never expected.
“People and people.”
This is what I’ve come to feel deeply since joining POST.
Art books create opportunities to truly get to know someone. In a time when real human connection is becoming increasingly rare, we want to cherish the encounters that bring warmth to our hearts.

And the big news is…
Next autumn, POST will publish a book!
It will compile all the publisher features we’ve presented over the years.
Doesn’t it make your heart race to think about peeking into POST’s bookshelves from five or ten years ago? I’m excited to see what kind of presence that accumulated time will give this book.
For this project, we are also asking for the support of many people who have long sustained POST. It’s shaping up to be a book that simply couldn’t exist without the community surrounding us.
And one more thing:
This book will embody what we at POST consider the best possible approach to making and delivering a book—from publishing to distribution to pricing.
We’ll share more details in upcoming updates.
